Let’s Talk Sconces

“Sconces are the decorating equivalent of a great pair of earrings. You don’t really need them, but what a difference they can make in pulling a look together.” – Martha Stewart

We agree with Martha that sconces can add a jewelry-like dimension to your space, but our customers are using them to do more than pull a look together. Sconces are literally replacing traditional lighting options. In bedrooms, instead of a lamp on the nightstand there is a sconce above it…leaving more room for all your stuff. Instead of recessed lighting down a hallway, designers are running sconces all the way down the hallway wall, creating not only the necessary light to find your way, but adding a bit of drama as well.

The versatility of sconces allows you to get creative and use them in a variety of spaces. A single sconce with a strong shadow can make a bold statement by itself, while a pair of sconces can frame and highlight a separate focal point.

Since many of our sconces and pendants can be hung in damp environments, we are seeing outdoor spaces looking more and more like an extension of the dining or living room. And steamy bathrooms can now reflect a spa ambiance.
